FAQ: My solution is not on your solution list. What can I do then?
The best way is to search google and study the typical concentration of your solution, and then we can make sure of which measurement scope is suitable for your answer, then choose a suitable glass hydrometer.
For example, if we want to test the concentration of our hydrochloric acid, we can search google or Wikipedia. We can get the information for HCl in 48℃(321K),38%, and the Saturated solution density is 1.18g/cm3. The thickness for pure water is 1g/cm3, so we can conclude that the liquid density is between 1g/cm3-1.18g/cm3. For the glass hydrometer, we can choose 1.0-1.1 and 1.1-1.2 glass hydrometer for a precise test.
After testing, the value is 1.09(i.e., the density is 1.09g/cm3), for example, so the relationship between density and concentration can look up the concentration of our HCl. So we can search google again for 1.09, and finally, we can conclude the concentration is 18% in 20 ℃.
Our user can also choose a wider-scope hydrometer.(the test result could be more accurate, but after getting a specific concentration range, choose a more precise hydrometer).
