Optional TC treatment, good cell adhesiveness.
What is TC treatment for Plastic Petri Dishes?
TC treatment means that the vessel has undergone surface modification treatment and is suitable for the culture of adherent cells. However, suspended cells do not necessarily need such specially treated vessels. After surface modification, cell culture dishes are generally suitable for suspension cell culture.
Most animal cells need to adhere to a solid interface to grow. Only in the hydrophilic solid-phase interface can cells attach.
The earliest cell culture vessels were made of glass. Because the surface of the glass is hydrophilic, normal cells can attach and grow without special treatment.
Polystyrene has good light transmittance, strength, plasticity, and no toxicity. It has become the preferred material for disposable cell culture consumables such as disposable cell culture dishes and plates. However, the surface of polystyrene is hydrophobic, so it needs surface modification to become hydrophilic before use for cell culture.
